Life in Sanya is a wee bit easier this week, but just barely. Tonight I had a 1 hour foot massage with shoulder rub for $3.50 though, so you really can't beat that price. It was in a nice place too, located just outside the gate of our apartment complex. On the other side of the building with the massages (also housing a spa for facials and stuff as well as a very big hair salon) is a yacht "club" (so the sign says) with multimillion dollar yachts. So strange that anyone here could afford such a thing. There are lots of coconuts and our tiny kitchen now has two hatchets to hack at them with - not that I know how to use one. It is amusing to watch petite girls sell coconuts and put them on a slab of wood and then hack at them with hatchets to get the perfect opening for a straw at the top. My effort was to hack a little more off the top after the juice was gone in order toput a spoon inside to scoop out the meat. Yum! And it is healthy - I think even Whole Foods has started selling coconut juice as a magic health elixir. We ventured to a different part of town with Bryce and Haley for breakfast two mornings this week. It was their 1st breakfast of the day at 9am, but our second since the kids wake up early. The 1st of the two days we had dumplings that we watched the lady make, and the 2nd day (today) we had bowls of ramen, but the noodles weren't ramen they were wide rice noodles so I guess it was really just a hearty noodle soup. Oscar has not bought into the whole idea of Chinese food for breakfast, but Josie eats like a champ! I watched in awe as Mike devoured two huge bowls of it too - I sort of side with Oscar on this one. Yet let the record show that since we've been here we have not had a bad meal, all the food is really delicious.

Krisjan likes coconut water too. He had some in Hawaii and now ask for it everyone once in awhile. They have some mixed with fruit juice at Lunardi's. We'll have to try the one at Whole Foods next.
